Computer science advances

China is trying to close its gap with Western nations in computer science by 2020 with an ambitious plan to foster more talents in the field.

Headed by Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, the Institute for Theoretical Computer Science at Tsinghua University will be transformed into one of the world's leading research centers on theoretical computer science by recruiting more overseas computer scientists and engaging in closer international cooperation.
