Prof. Longbo Huang Won 2018 ACM SIGMETRICS Rising Star Research Award

Prof. Longbo Huang, Assistant Professor at IIIS, Tsinghua University, was named recipient of the 2018 ACM SIGMETRICS Rising Star Research Award, making him the first domestic scholar to receive this honor. Prof. Huang received the award for “contributions to quantifying the fundamental benefits of online learning and prediction in stochastic network optimization.”

Established in 2008, the ACM SIGMETRICS Rising Star Research Award recognizes annually one rising star researcher with outstanding potential in computer and communication performance research. Past award winners include scholars from top international academic institutes such as MIT, Caltech, UIUC and INRIA, etc. ACM SIGMETRICS hosts several top conferences each year, including ACM SIGMETRICS and IFIP Performance.

Prof. Huang joined IIIS, Tsinghua University in 2012. He was awarded the Tsinghua University Distinguished Teaching Award (良师益友) in 2014. His research interests lie in the areas of stochastic modeling and analysis, machine learning and optimization.
