Probing the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics is generally associated with high energy accelerator based experiments. However, till date the best test of the field theory has been through atomic physics experiments. In a similar spirit there are proposals to address the eletro-weak interaction via atomic physics experiments and one of the most successful experiments has been the observation of the parity non-conservation (PNC) in atomic Cs. That measurement was performed with a precision of 0.3% which can barely distinguish between different extensions of the SM. In this presentation, another candidate for PNC measurement will be discussed along with some preliminary results. The experiment is based on barium ion trapped and laser cooled in a linear Paul trap. A detail description of the method, setup and analysis including systematic will be discussed. In addition further discussion will be made on other ongoing experiments related to quantum information processing with the same setup.
