Mingyu Gao is a tenure-track assistant professor of computer science in the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences (IIIS) at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. He leads the Innovative Data-centric Efficient Architecture Lab (IDEAL). His research interests lie in the fields of computer architecture and systems, with emphasis on data-intensive applications, including deep learning, graph processing, and data analytics. He designed scalable and efficient Near-Data Processing systems with new memory technologies, hardware and software optimizations for domain-specific neural network acceleration, as well as novel reconfigurable substrates.
Mingyu received his PhD in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University in June, 2018. He also received a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University in 2014, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Microelectronics at Tsinghua University in China in 2012.
