Prof. Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, ITCS Director joined the 10th Asian Conference on Quantum Information Science (AQIS’10) at the University of Tokyo during August 27-31. He delivered a keynote talk entitled “Some Perspectives on Quantum Complexity” following the Opening.

Quantum Informatics, as the interdisciplinary subject combining Quantum Physics and Information Science, is a fertile area of research. In recent years, the theory of computational complexity for quantum machines has seen rapid and exciting progress. Prof. Yao discussed some examples of these achievements, as well as the underlying intellectual themes. He pointed out that many of the issues examined in quantum complexity have the attractive feature that they can be simply phrased but their answers require deep and extensive investigations.

Asian Conference on Quantum Information Science (AQIS) is an annual meeting focused on quantum information science and technology. Its broad scope includes advances in various fields such as quantum physics, computer science, mathematics and information technologies. This event is the memorable tenth conference and comprises tutorials and presentations of invited speakers, selected papers and posters.
