June 07,2012

At the 43rd Annual DAMOP Meeting (American Physical Society Division of Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics) during June 4-8 at Anaheim, California, USA, IIIS successfully held a reception meeting for scholars in quantum information. The meeting was hosted by CC Yao Professor Luming Duan. Associate Dean Prof. Amy Yuexuan Wang and Assoc. Prof. Kihwan Kim joined the event.

Prof. Duan is introducing IIIS and its future plan.

In his presentation, Prof. Duan focused on the mission, research team and progress of Center for Quantum Information (CQI) and the recruiting plan. Prof. Kim shared the favorable research environment and top students based on his own research experiences while Prof. Wang introduced the institute's talent recruitment, research environment, discipline development, and research team.

More than 120 scholars in quantum information joined the meeting. Among them, quite a number asked about the recruitment procedure and showed strong interests in doing research in China. Some young physicists also took the interview for openings at CQI.

The meeting attracts many scholars.

The Division of Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (DAMOP) was founded in 1943, and was the first division of the American Physical Society. It attracts hundreds of physicists every year. This year, Prof. Duan and Mr. Chong Zu, IIIS gruaduate student gave invited talks and Prof. Kim presented research progress in ion trap through posters, which attracted many people to know more about IIIS and CQI.
