An Industrial Perspective on Real-World Embodied AI

Abstract:

In this talk, he will discuss multiple topics of embodied AI, e.g., the development path and scaling law of embodied intelligence. In addition to the above macro issues, he will share how to build a robot hardware system step by step and produce it in scale at a startup.

Short Bio:

He graduated from Tsinghua University in 2015, and then went to the University of Southern California to pursue a doctorate degree supervised by Professor Ram Nevatia, and obtained his PhD degree in 2018. From January 2019 to January 2021, he worked at Waymo (Google's driverless car company), working on multiple important modules including perception, prediction, and online mapping. During this period, he published a series of VectorNet and TNT papers, using graph neural networks to solve autonomous driving planning and prediction problems, which were later widely adopted by the industry. From January 2021 to June 2023, he served as executive director at Momenta, leading teams such as perception, positioning, planning, AI Infra, smart parking, and NOA system products (with a team size of over 100 people). He completed the mass production and delivery of models such as SAIC IM, BYD, and Geely Lotus. From September 2023 to today, he and his partners founded Galaxea AI (星海图)and started the embodied intelligence entrepreneurial journey. The company has obtained top VC investments such as IDG, Baidu Ventures, GSR Ventures, SEE FUND and Shougang Fund.
