Abstract:

A fundamental challenge in optical imaging is the photon shot noise arising from the inevitable stochasticity of photon detection. Noise increases measurement uncertainty, degrades observation quality, and limits imaging resolution, speed, and sensitivity. The sensitivity of any measurement system based on classical physics must be lower than the standard quantum limit, which not only restricts our observations of scientific phenomena, but also hinders the realization of optical computing with higher performance. This talk will introduce our work from AI to quantum to achieve high-sensitivity imaging and computing beyond the standard quantum limit. From one perspective of algorithms, I will introduce our self-supervised denoising method to resolve biological phenomena from severe noise contamination. From another perspective of physics, I will introduce our efforts in quantum imaging and quantum-enhanced optical computing to break the standard quantum limit towards higher observational capability and computing power.
