On the morning of June 9, ITCS 2010 doctoral dissertation oral defense took place at Room 1-222, FIT Building. Assoc. Prof. Xiaoming Sun hosted the defense of doctoral candidates Hongyi Yao, Decheng Dai and Jialin Zhang. Prof Jianhua Fen from the Department of Computer Science and Technology and Prof Fengshan Bai from the Department of Mathematics, Tsinghua University served as Dissertation Committee chairs and Committee members were Prof Shaoping Ma from the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, Prof Ker-I Ko from the Department of Computer Science, State University of New York at Stony Brook and Prof Deying Li from School of Information, Renmin University.   

Assoc. Prof. Xiaoming Sun first introduced the Committee members and doctoral candidates. Three candidates then presented their research methods employed in conducting the study, findings and conclusions revealed by the study and their respective contributions. Committee members sang highly of the significance and real-time applications of the dissertations and reached a more extensive insight with the candidates into their research areas.

The defense concluded around 12:15 as the Committee members voted unanimously to pass the oral defense and written document of the three candidates.
