From January 17 to 22, 2011, a total of 29 students of Tsinghua Special Pilot CS Class 80 joined ITCSC Winter School 2011 in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. It is the fifth time for the junior Yao Class students to go to Hong Kong for academic exchanges, which has significantly expanded students’ horizon.

The ITCSC Winter School is a weeklong series of lectures and academic activities for second and third year undergraduate students from universities across Asia. This theme of this year’s winter school is the interplay between computer science and information theory. The program combines academic learning, cultural exchange, and community exploration. Lectures were delivered by renowned professors.

Around 50 students of computer science and electrical engineering from universities across Asia joined the winter school. Besides, there was a city exploration tour for the participants on the last day of the program and students were all greatly impressed by the beauty and prosperity of Hong Kong.
The ITCSC winter school 2011 has been a great opportunity for Yao Class 80 students to find out about Hong Kong’s academic environment, meet talented students from across Asia, and explore an interesting city.
