CUHK Delegation Team Visits IIIS

June 23, CUHK Delegation Team headed by Prof. C.P. Wong, Dean of Engineering paid a visit to IIIS. The team is made up of Prof. Sean Tang, Associate Dean of Engineering (Research), Prof. Ronald Chung, Associate Dean of Engineering (Student Affairs) and Chairman Designate of Mechanical and Automation Engineering Dept., Prof. John Lui, Chairman of Computer Science and Engineering Dept., Prof. H.K. Tsang, Chairman of Electronics Engineering Dept., Prof. Dah-Ming Chiu, Chairman of Information Engineering Dept., Prof. Duan Li, Chairman of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management Dept. ,Prof. H.F. Leung, Director of MSc Programme in Computer Science, Computer Science and Engineering Dept. and Faculty Secretary Mrs. Doris Law.

Dean Prof. Yao gives a brief introduction of IIIS.

IIIS Dean Prof. Andrew Yao, Deputy Dean Prof. Amy Wang, Prof. Luming Duan, Prof. Kihwan Kim and other members joined the meeting with CUHK Delegation Team. Dean Prof. Yao briefly introduced the phenomenal growth of IIIS, which has built up an international faculty team consisting of full-time faculty, chair professors, adjunct faculty, visiting professors in research areas of theoretical computer science, quantum information, cyber security and network science. Prof. Yao looked forward to further promoting exchanges and cooperation with the team led by Prof. C.P. Wong who is an expert in electronic, photonic and MEMS packaging.

Prof. Duan introduces CQI at the meeting.

Prof. Duan introduced the general information and prospect of Center for Quantum Information and held a discussion with CUHK Delegation Team. He emphasized that CQI aims to develop a world-class platform for the teaching and research of quantum information in China while making breakthroughs in scalable quantum network and quantum simulator.

After a brief introduction of delegation team members, Prof. C.P. Wong said in his remarks that the mission of their visit is to seek potential cooperation with top universities in mainland and explore advanced material for electronic and atomic education. He highly praised Prof. Yao for his efforts at Tsinghua University after leaving Princeton and his achievement in developing theoretical computer science in China. He also expressed hope for greater cooperation between CUHK and IIIS in the field of cyber security.
