In this talk, I will describe several experiments demonstrating simple quantum computation primitives using multi-photon entanglement and semiconductor quantum dot spin. I will start with a general introduction to the field of linear optical quantum computing, and move to experiments using parametric down-conversion to demonstrate graph-state entanglement, quantum encoding against photon loss, and Shor's factoring algorithm. I will then switch to solid-state quantum system - GaAs/InAs quantum dots in the second part of the talk (if time allows), and show our experimental efforts to generate spin-resolved resonance fluorescence and its use in probing spin dynamics and single-shot optical spin readout.
Chaoyang Lu received his BS from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), and PhD from the University of Cambridge in 2011, and became a professor of Physics at USTC. His research interests include photonic quantum computing, multi-particle entanglement and quantum dot spin physics.
