On the afternoon of February 26, 2009, the first group meeting in the new semester of ITCS was held in room 4-603 of FIT Building. Professor Yao chaired this meeting. Professor Yuexuan Wang, Professor Xiaoming Sun, postdoctoral researchers, visitors, ITCS graduate students and staff attended this meeting.

  Professor Yao introduced blueprint of ITCS in the future, including the large-scale international conference in March and in May, the news that two postdoctoral researchers are going to join ITCS, the soon-to-come journey to Japan of pre-graduate students, and the program of Hong Kong Summer Camp. All of these events symbolize the vigorous development of ITCS. All people in ITCS are willing to do their best to carry out all kinds of work, and promote further development of ITCS.

During the meeting, Professor Yao introduced Mr. Henry Lin from UC Berkeley, and he was welcomed warmly with applause. Mr. Henry Lin communicated profoundly with the professors and students of ITCS on the issues of cryptography and complexity theory. Besides, ITCS faculty also fixed group curriculum. Meanwhile, people extended their hearty wishes to Jayalal who had got married recently. All of these show ITCS united and harmonious culture. Under the guidance of such culture, the work of ITCS is bound to keep moving forward and reaching new horizons.

 Mr. Henry Lin gave a speech of “Reductions from directed maximum flow to undirected maximum flow and to bipartite matching” after group meeting. People had a deep discussion on the field of theoretical computer science.

The meeting finished with successful conclusion, which means a new start of ITCS. In the new semester, all the people in ITCS will keep moving with full of hope.
