(By Yuying Chang, Shuai Sun) On March 29, 2014, hundreds of shortlisted high-school students attended the interview of Tsinghua discretionary enrollment after they succeeded in a previous written test. The interview for Tsinghua Xuetang Special Pilot CS Class (Yao Class) took place in Room 3311, Classroom Building No. 3. Prof. Longbo Huang, program director of Yao Class, hosted the interview with a panel of other 4 IIIS faculty members including Prof. John Steinberger, Prof. Pingzhong Tang, Prof. Man Hong Yung and Prof. Wei Xu. The interview aims to evaluate the academic competence and potentials of these promising students from all over the country.

It is the fourth time that Yao Class has participated in the process of Tsinghua discretionary enrollment for undergraduate program. This pilot project provides a platform for Yao Class to select and recruit talents not only interested in computer science but showing their potentials and determinations in conducting computer scientific research.
