From January 23 to January 26, 2018, 10 YaoClass students participated in a 4-day academic exchange program at CUHK-Shenzhen. Prof. Yangsheng Xu, President of CUHK-Shenzhen, delivered an opening speech and Prof. Longbo Huang, Director of YaoClass, introduced YaoClass talent-cultivation at the opening ceremony.

Entitled “Robotics and Big Data”, this program also included 10 students from School of Science and Engineering (SSE), CUHK-Shenzhen. All the program members experienced the unique general education and college activities of CUHK-Shenzhen, visited Dajiang and other innovation technology corporations, enjoyed dinner with Prof. Arieh Warshel, laureate of Nobel Prize, and collaborated on mini research projects.

Members were divided into five research groups, with each team consisting of two YaoClass students and two SSE students. Among them, three groups have carried out unmanned sailboat projects under the guidance of Professor Huihuan Qian, and two groups deep learning projects under the guidance of Professor Wenye Li. With completion of 3 tasks and professors' recognition, the Upsidedown team, including Jinhao Zhao from YaoClass 40 and Yunyun Wang from YaoClass 60, won the championship with their wind-driven sailboat research results.

General Education course was mainly divided into two parts: Dialogue with Humanities and Dialogue with Nature. In the section "Dialogue with Humanities," Prof. Yangzhou Deng talked about "Plato on Love" and Professor Lili Jiang presented "Aristotle on Knowledge" during the "Dialogue with Nature" section.

During the program, Prof. Chongjie Zhang and Prof. Yang Yu from our institute also gave lectures on robotics and energy economics.
