As one of the major activities of the International Academic Review on Computer Science and Technology of Tsinghua University (THCST), the review committee paid a visit to ITCS on the morning of August 19, 2010. Leading computer scientists from Cornell University, the University of Southampton, MIT, Keio University, the University of Geneva, the University of Delaware, and the University of Waterloo listened to the ITCS research report and toured the lab. Prof. Heping Hu, Secretary of the CPC Committee at Tsinghua University also joined the visit.
Prof. Amy Yuexuan Wang, ITCS Deputy Director hosted the research report. Prof. Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, ITCS Director, first delivered welcome remarks and introduced the seven committee members. ITCS faculty members and postdoctoral research fellows all shared their research interests and results at the report.
Prof. Amy Wang also introduced the 863 Program “Study on Agricultural Bio-Environmental Information Acquisition and Wireless Sensors Network Technologies” and presented its research achievement “PAIMS: Precision Agriculture Information Monitoring System” through video and on-site demo. The committee also toured ITCS lab accompanied by postdoc Kevin Matulef. They interacted with ITCS members and spoke highly of its progress since inception. Prof. John Hopcroft, review committee chair, regarded the visit as a “tremendous experience”.
The committee will join discussions with ITCS faculty members and students to have further knowledge of its program as well as that of THCST.
