On March 22, 2010, Prof. Andrew Chi-Chih Yao hosted a meeting on a joint proposal on Chinese-Danish collaboration. Prof. Amy Yuexuan Wang, Assoc. Prof. Xiaoming Sun, Dr. Periklis Papakonstantinou, Dr. John Steinberger, Dr. Kevin Matulef and Dr. Christophe Tartary joined the meeting.
Prof. Yao first introduced the background of the Chinese-Danish collaboration project. The Danish National Research Foundation (DNRF) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) have agreed on developing and strengthening Danish-Chinese scientific collaboration, which was initiated around one year ago. And both sides solicit proposals from information science in general.
Prof. Yao mentioned that Prof. Peter Bro Miltersen and his colleagues at Aarhus University have already held several pre-proposal workshops in areas such as algorithm and complexity in Copenhagen. And members of the ITCS team will hold preliminary discussions on proposals with Prof. Miltersen, Prof. Damgaard and Kristoffer Arnsfelt Hansen from the Danish side during their visit to ITCS from March 23 to 28.
The preparation work for the joint proposal was also assigned during the meeting. Members of the ITCS team will co-write four topics with Danish side in areas of Foundations of Cryptography, Quantum Informatics, Computational Complexity Theory and Algorithmic game theory.
The meeting with the Danish team has been scheduled on March 24 during which the general structure for proposal activities, such as workshops for educational purpose and summer school will be talked about and set.
