On the occasion of the 30th Teachers’ Day, the National Higher Education Achievement Awards, which honor excellence in teaching and education across the country, were presented at a ceremony at the Great Hall of People, Beijing. The ceremony was attended by President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and other state officials. This year, Tsinghua took three First Awards, one of which went to Yao Class Program, and seven Second Awards.
Initiated by Turing Award winner Prof. Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, Tsinghua Xuetang Yao Class, has established its reputation for cultivating innovative talents in accordance with the students’ aptitude and developing an extensive international teaching program, and gained an international recognition for its “Best Undergraduates and Best Undergraduate Program”. The success of Yao Class program shows the abilities of Chinese universities to create an environment which allows undergraduate students to achieve the world-class academic standards.
Launched in 1989 by the State Council, National Higher Education Achievement Awards are bestowed every four years as the most prestigious prize to recognize the best practice in higher education and teaching in China.
