I will discuss how we have taken advantage of recent advances in photonic quantum information processing to present the experimental implementations of
1. Analog quantum simulation;
2. Quantum control of single‐photon and entangled‐photon states generation;
3. Long‐distance free‐space quantum communication. Together this body of work represents early experimental progress towards the long‐term goal of exploiting quantum information to speed up computation and to realize secure communication.
