Matt Niemerg is currently a Simons-Berkeley Fellow at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences at Tsinghua University.
Matt completed his Ph.D. in Mathematics at Colorado State University in 2014 and his undergraduate studies in Mathematics and Computer Science at Eastern Illinois University in 2008. In Fall 2014, he participated in the ``Complexity of Algorithms in Algebraic Geometry'' Thematic Program at the Simons Institute at UC-Berkeley.
His main research interests lie in applying algebraic geometry to answer questions that arise in the natural sciences. He is the co-developer of several actively maintained open-source software packages.
